Job Overview
Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital is a close-knit, team-oriented, AAHA-accredited small animal practice looking for a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to animals, assisting veterinarians in various procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the veterinary clinic. This role requires a strong understanding of animal physiology and the ability to handle a variety of species, including equine.
Responsibilities
*Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
*Perform diagnostic tests, including X-rays and laboratory work.
*Maintain aseptic technique during surgical procedures.
*Anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery
*Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian.
*Monitor animal vital signs and provide critical care when necessary.
*Handle and restrain animals safely for examinations and treatments.
*Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and dental hygiene.
*Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
*Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic’s facilities and equipment.
Skills
*Proficient in aseptic technique to prevent infection during procedures.
*Knowledgeable in X-ray procedures.
*Strong understanding of animal physiology and anatomy.
*Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures relevant to veterinary medicine.
*Knowledge of dental terminology related to animal care.
*Excellent dog handling skills, ensuring safety for both the animal and staff.
*Ability to provide veterinary critical care in emergency situations.
*Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with pet owners and team members.
*Experience with Avimark software (a plus, but not required).
